I was hit by inspiration the moment I saw the original photo, which was a flock of birds in flight. I had just finished watching an episode of Heroes, and my mind immediately went to a man in flight with those birds.

I really wanted to capture that rush and joy of flight, but keep it very comic book looking.

Why thank you. After I worked the manip into an illustration, it looked so flat and static. So I tried to color it in a way to give back movement and dimension, while trying to stick to something simple of red, blue, yellow, green, black, white. This way it didn't look too real, but more an idealized real.

Which is probably more than you wanted to know, but it's early and I haven't had any coffee yet, so my stop talking you idiot filter isn't in place yet. :)

Thank you so much. I'm glad you like it. The guy isn't the original. The first human flyer looked too stiff, so I was incredibly excited to find more dynamic stock.
